它有两种常用意思,第一种可能大家都比较熟悉,用lean on表示“倚靠”、“依靠”,英语里的意思类似于:to depend on someone or something. 比如:The survivors leaned on each other for help and comfort.(幸存者们倚靠彼此寻求帮助与慰藉。)。又比如:a shoulder to lean on(一个可以倚靠的肩膀)。

The gangsters were leaning on local storekeepers to pay them protection money.(不法之徒向当地的店主施压,以索要保护费。)

We(the Russian government) can either try to lean on this guy, right? or we can leave him alone and, for once, maybe Russia will get some good PR out of this.”(收听斯诺登的这句音频) 你能告诉我吗,斯诺登在这里用到的”lean on”,是我们所说的第一种意思,还是第二种呢?
